Hey Everyone!

On my 1996 seadoo spx 717. With everything hooked up properly. When you push the start/stop. Nothing happens. When diving in farther. I tested the start stop button. With the switch open I got a open circuit on my ohm meter and 0.1/0.2 when the switch is depressed. Which means it’s good I believe. The tether kill
Cord. Cap on I got 0.4 ohms and when off a open circuit.

I changed the starter solenoid. From what I read online and YouTube haha. Which every thing hooked up if you cross the positive terminals and it cranks it means the solenoid is garbage. We’ll with the new one it does the same thing.

Seems to me I don’t have ignition power at all. All the fuses in the mpem are fine. I have tested power going in but I can’t find power coming out of the mpem on the yellow with red to the start stop switch or when the start stop is pressed I don’t have power coming out of the mpem yellow and red wire to the solenoid.

Seems to me the mpem module is pooched! Am I wrong anyone have any insight on this ??

Thank you

did you check the fuses just ahead of the solenoid in that same box? they are in that wierd looking holder.

I have this exact problem with a 96 gsx 787. I just bought it. The unit wont start, it wont beep using the dess, no lights on the dash, no response when depressing start and no click on pressing start. I tested the Dess and the start button using a multimeter and they seem to be ok based on ohms. The unit will turn over fine if I cross the posts on solenoid using a screw driver. The ground is clean and a new starter and battery were just installed. Im thinking its the mpem? The fuses in rear box ebox and front mpem box are all fine. Any suggestions?

Yes. It ended up being the mpem. I double checked all the switches and everything was normal. All within spec of where they needed to be as per the service manual. I did the ohm reading on the mpem. I got a couple of weird ones but they were all
For the vts which is pooched on this machine. I had no power between the mpem to the solenoid it’s the pigtail that plugged into in. I put the factory solenoid back in with the new mpem and new battery. The unit beeps normal dash lights work cranks and runs like new.

Now gotta tackle the vts. I ordered the vts fix kit off ebay and got a new boot for the back aswell as the motor. This springs project

Solved my issue today! The previous owner replaced the solenoid. When they did they had the two hot wires that send power to mpem and trim system on the wrong terminal. Once I moved they small wires over to the correct always hot solenoid terminal everything worked.
