i have a 1996 speedster.i have had it about 3 weeks. about the 2nd time i took it out the starter and solenoid went out. had it fixed and the next time i took it out it started fine. then i got out on the lake and about the 3rd time i started it did it again. what would make it keep burning up the starter and solenoid.

nothing would. are you sure starter is dead? try jumping solenoid? aftermarket starter? i have heard some horror stories about them. a used starter from eBay is a better deal.

It could be a bad ground or battery connection. Check all you wiring for good clean connections.
