So I need a little help from you all. The speedster is getting so close to being ready and taking it out Friday for a shakedown run produced a slightly bent shift cable on the right side. (It wasn't me
) It was always tougher than it should have been to get in and out of fwd/n/rev and now it appears to be too far gone.
What I am needing help with is the correct part number. I have done a ton of searching and keep finding 2 different ones depending on the retailer I go to. On Amazon and PWCwatersports and many others, they list an SBT replacement cable that replaces OEM part number 271000467 (right), and this should work for 94/95/96.
I called directly to SBT and they said for a 96 speedster (right) it would be OEM part number 271000628. They also don't have it and suggested buying the left which is way way longer and see if a mechanic can make it work . . .
The difference I can see is that OEM part number 271000467 appears to be 107.5 inches in length with a 4.25-inch throw and that OEM part number 271000628 is 108 inches with a 4.25-inch throw.
I have not replaced one of these before and don't know if the half-inch will matter during installation or not. To add onto the annoyance factor we are taking the boat to Galveston from Dallas on Thursday the 27th and most of these cables will take a while to ship . . .
If anyone had insight on this it would really help the newbie. :/
