Oil tank leaks right where the bottom hose plugs into the tank, old grommet seems to be excessively loose. Also the oil sensor fits loosely in the top hole as well. tried some degreaser to clean off the sides of the openings with a paper tower. used home silicone, and permatex black oil resistant gasket maker but it doesn't seem to stick to the oil. any advice on sealing the oil tank would be greatly appreciated

Just replace the grommets. There isn't any "Sealer" that will stick to that plastic, since it's been soaked in oil for the past 16 years.

i had to replace the grommets on my oil tank this fall, my local seadoo dealer sells so few parts that the grommets they had on shelf were almost as old as my 1999 boat! its a easy task, just be ready with a catch for the oil. and be sure that when you're done there aren't any air bubbles in the line. most (if not all) should burp into the tank.
