I bought this 1996 Seadoo XP about 3 weeks ago. The guy I bought it from ran it out of oil. he had the motor rebuilt in Nov. and dident have them put the oil pump back in. so any ways I mix my own oil/gas do I need to put oil in the tank? I had a guy tell me these models have a gear that needs to be oiled and I dont know if that is true or not? let me know, Thanks, DJ

I just checked, and your model does have the rotary valve. The 2000 models do not. Does the oil pump not work? If it does I would put it back on and use it, you'll use a lot less oil which is good cause premixing can get expensive, and kinda a pain.
If the oil pump does not work, remove the oil pump shaft and put the pump back on, fill your reservoir tank up about half way. The rotary shaft will need a little oil from the reservoir tank. Recommended oil for yours is SEADOO XP-S synthetic.

All I know is that he ran it out of oil I dont have an oil pump now I guess the dealer he had rebuild the motor pluged the lines up for the oil pump. but the oil tank is still there. is it hard to put in a pump? should I go and buy a new pump and put it in you think? Thanks, DJ
