1996 Seadoo Speedster

Hi all, I am a Newbie! I have owned several larger boats (Outboards) but never anything by Seadoo. I am looking at a 1996 Sedoo Speedster. Looking for any information I may need to be aware of. Boat is in great condition all around including the trailer. None of the fuel Gauges work properly though. Not computer related as the boat operates perfectly normal. Had the wife and I in it and on my GPS it was running around 51-54MPH in the straights. Boat has had very little use by current owner. He has had it out only once in the last 2 years. These engines do you have to mix the gas and oil? Is is the oil injected. I have always owned 2 stroke engines where I had to mix gas and oil. Anything I need to look out for when purchasing. He is asking $4500 Canadain with Cover and Trailer. Price seems decent. Any info on these untis would be appreciated.

they are oil injected. you just keep an eye on the oil tank. always use the correct oil for it. check things like engine compression and wear ring/impeller condition. you will want to learn some things about how water jet pumps work if this is your first time owning something with one. read more about them in the seadoo jetboat section. this is the PWC section so most of us cant help you too much in here.

The fuel gauges all fail

Normally it is a fuse in the in-tank assembly. The assembly is very expensive. Check jetboating.net and search for fuel gauge or gas gauge. Many fix it but it is no simple matter. There is a photo/step by step there
