Thanks for all the positive responses guy's, it's been quite the learning experience that is finally paying off at the lake! :willy_nilly:

I like the two mats you installed on the back platform. Also the mat installed on the center access panel in the floor. Do you have a name or link to where you got those components?

Working on my own rehab here of a 1996 Challenger. Learned a lot from yours. Going to try that heat gun feature. Was originally wondering if Armorall would have fixed the fading.

Charleston.

The Traction Mats are Black Tip Brand. You can get them from Keith at www.seadooupholstery.com. I ordered an extra 3'x5' mat to cover other spots the kit does not. Mainly I wanted a good seating area on the back deck and motor compartment.

Armorall will last about a week. The heat gun treatment will last for years. Mine still looks like the day it was done. Careful, you are essentially melting the plastic to get that look, don't touch it when its hot....Bad mess and horrible look if you do. Melt away and have fun.

The last time we went out my son mentioned that it was the best day yet, the boat started without issues or hiccups, ran all day without sucking something up in the Jet pump (woot) and it ran like it should all freekin day! It has become quite enjoyable...

Charleston (and anyone else that is interested) I'll second Claymore's recommendation to get the mats through Keith. I ordered blacktip mats, a blacktip GTX seat cover and new upholstery for my '96 Challenger from Keith. He was great to work with and saved me a good bit of $ on the blacktip stuff. I have only installed one piece of the Challenger upholstery so far (other projects in the queue that have to get done first), but the quality of the whole kit is top notch.

I also followed Claymore's instructions on melting my hood to restore the color. It took a while to get the hang of it, but once I did, it worked well. Mine is fading a touch in a few spots already, but overall, I'm pleased with how it worked. Follow his instructions from earlier in the thread and go watch some youtube videos like he suggested in post #36.

Claymore: Dude! I'm thrilled to hear that the boat is doing well. These project boats are a PITA to get right, but the payoff is when you have great days on the lake.:thumbsup:

Seasons over, I winterized the boat tonight. Here we are more than a year later and at least a $4k+ investment in parts, my free labor. It's a sad day.

Our family and extended family and friends all had a blast this summer and it's bee quite the adventure getting there.

I've learned that boat does stand for "break out another thousand", check and re-check everything on the boat, the two beeps bring joy in the middle of the lake, you can launch it six feet or more in the air, tubing is a blast at any age and WOT = Grins...!

We will start the season earlier next year, the good thing is I'll be on here here more!

I'm still here boys, lurking thru the winter as usual...

And, WOW... this post has almost 8000 views!... LOL:thumbsup:
