Last Saturday the XP died after riding for about an hour. Found the exhaust had a water leak & ski had a bunch of water in it; but not more than it had before. I pulled the plugs & made sure no water got inside the engine. I sprayed some WD-40 in the cylinders & cranked it to blow out.

When I try to start, it back fires thru the carb & runs real rough then dies - can't get any RPM's on it.

I changed the plugs, pulled the electronics box out & checked for water (none), left everything open to dry out. I stripped back the plug wires & re-terminated on the caps. Still the same problem.

Should I try the coil next?

The local shop has a 2 week wait before they can look at it & we are supposed to be taking the ski on vacation in 3 weeks so I need to fix ASAP!!

Thanks for any help,
Scott

Could it be water in gas?

I was reading another thread about water in the gas. Could this make the ski not start & beacfire while cranking?

Thanks,
Scott

might have astripped brass gear. Best idea to check, would be to pull a carb off, and then while look'n in "throat" of manifold, turn the pto. Should see the RV plate turn with it, if at anytime it hesitats, then you have problem with the RV assy...
