HELP!!!!
Out of nowhere when increasing the throttle at about half power the engine RPM'S increase dramatically and the boat slows. I can move at about 10 MPH fine but when speeding up it feels as if the motor "slips into nuetral". Does this mean that there could be an obstuction in the intake that is limiting the amount of water that flows through the jet pump or something else is wrong? I looked at the grate but do not see anything out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions?

Izzo, welcome to the forum. All your signs point out a propulsion problem. Like Timmy said, Check the clearance between the wear ring and the impeller blades. Clearance should not exceed 1mm (.040"). About the size of a sheet of paper. Check between impeller blade tip and wear ring. If everything is good there take the jet pump off the inspect more thoroughly with the impeller. Make sure there is no dings on the edges and that it is not bent.

You could do this repair yourself and get the parts from our parts outlet, and save a ton of money. Join as a "premium member" and download a seadoo manual from our library. If you get stuck while you doing it, give us a shout we can help you out. Click on the manual for more details.

Thanks for the quick response. I plan to tear into it this weekend. I'll let you all know what I find.

Well,
Everything is clean from the intake all the way through the pump.

All seals appeared to be in great shape as do the empeller and ring.

Unfortunately I had to take in into the shop. As a first year boat owner I wasn't comfortable do any more than I already did.

I got a call from the dealership a few days ago confirming what I had seen. (Clear)

He believes it is the cluthes at the bottom of the engine? He stated there was a specific test that he could run to verify this was the issue.

Does anyone have any other thoughts. I see this problem all of the forum but never has anyone mentioned cluthes.

It this another possibility?

Hopefully you missunderstud what he was saying because there are no clucthes on your boat. I believe that the most comon problem with a single engine jet boat is that the neoprene seal between the ride shoe and the pump develops a leak. I threw $ money at my 1995 sportster to fix the same problem that you are haveing because I had many other problems with my boat and I did not want to waste any more time as it could of delayed me even longer and Seadoo's were new to me at that time. If I ever have the problem you are haveing again I will look at the wear ring and impeller and if they look ok I will try and replace the neoprene seal and see if it is the fix. It is such a easy job the only thing I will be out is about 1 hour of my time and I will have to buy another neoprene seal at the cost of less than $10.00

Well I got my boat back from the shop and it runs like a top. They replaced the impeller and ring. Total cost $ 380.00. Sounds like a lot but I think they were very fair.

It's great to have it back on the water.

Thank you to everyone for their assistance.:hurray:
