Hello,

This is my first post on the forums and have already found some helpful info here! So thanks for that !

We have a 95 Sp and an Spi. Yesterday we went for a ride, and my wife was saying that the Spi was surging..... So i was not surprised becasue we were having battery issues. I just figured it was having issues charging and keeping up and it would eventually get the battery to a charged state and it would stop surging. Well it didn't... It slowly died and then didn't have enough battery to start again. So we left the Spi at someone's dock, took the Sp home took the battery out drove back and swapped the battery and off we went. Drove mint..... For 5-10 minutes, then started to slowly die again, I had to keep pushing the throttle harder to stay the same speed. Eventually I had to stop it and walk it along the shore. After about 15 minutes I decided to start it again, and boom! It took off and hit full speed with out issue. After about 3 minutes this time it started to slow again. Luckily I got it to the trailer. I will also mention that last weekend the temp sensor on the top of the engine malfunctioned and was constantly beeping, swapped it from the Sp and no issue. I'm not sure it's related or coincidence. I removed the entire Fuse/power box to do some troubleshooting on the bench. Has anyone experienced this? I'm leaning towards the cdi or Mpem. But just would like to try and diagnose. Before part swapping.

I also tried running the fuel switch on reserve to try and eliminate a fuel issue.

Any insight on this would be great!

Suggest new *plugs, read the carb adjustment sticky and learn to rebuild, as yearly maintenance before season start. Do a compression check to verify the engines health. post results

I just did the plugs. The dealer suggested br7es, but I had br8es in there...... Think that could have an effect?

Bills86e : I also have a question in regards to it slowly dieing, what in the fuel system causes that? and how come after a certain amount of time does it fire up like normal again?

Is there something that drains after sitting or is there something that heats up and restricts fuel? I am just trying to comprehend the possibilities due to this symptom.

I have read alot about the grey fuel lines and not sure that is the issue either.
