I am new to this and I am looking at 2 GTX's. They are on a dual trailer and being sold for 3500. Is this a good deal and what should I expect. Anything to look for. What is top speed? Good and bad?

Do a search and you will get the normal answers to you question regarding what to look for. Compression, bearing noise, pump condition, grey fuel lines, etc.

In Florida you should be able to get those cheaper. If they were just MINT MINT MINT, have mint OEM covers, upkeep receipts, and the trailer was Aluminum I'd say $3000 tops, and even less if they are faded or need any work.

Ah, the old 95 gtx... I had one back in the day. Great and robust machine! Had alot of fun on it, HP is a bit scarce on it though since it only has the 650. So it takes a sec to plane out and might not pull skiers as good. Here are a couple things I would check for;

-make absolute sure that they leave the engine cold and don't start it before you come over to look. Cold starts reveal starter issues and other potential problems with the engine. Check all the gauges and make sure the gas guage has bars shown, even if he has to put a little gas in it. Those sending units tend to go out, has to replace once on mine.

- ask him to take you out for a test ride on the water, if he is serious about selling, he should have no problem with that.

- top speed is about 43 to 45 on a good day with those. Well according to it's speedo anyway.

- also, while on the trailer, crawl under there and inspect the impeller and pump. Make sure there is no evidence of sucking up sticks or rocks, etc. (you should be able to tell by seeing bent edges and gouges on or around)

Other than that just check out as much as you can, tinker with the reverse and all that if you end up riding it.

But I agree, 3500 seems a bit high. Look up book value and similar models in your area to see what they should go for.

Good luck

:cheers:

Florida has some of the lowest ski prices in the country...Unless that trailer is aluminum, I'd say 2g-2500

I have a 95 and love it. For starters I find the ski fairly easy to work with. This is my first ski and it has been a blast. It may not be the fastest thing on the water, but its nice for me and my gf to get out and just have a good time. You don't always have to have the most expensive, biggest, and fastest to have the most fun.

I just replaced fuel lines in mine and it was very easy. I have replaced my starter and that was easy. Other than that I have had no problems. When I got mine it was in great condition and really low houred for how old it is.
