I am replacing the hoses on my GTS because the previous owner melted them. The hose in question is the hose coming off the top of the cylinder head that goes to the rear of the ski below the handle.

The service manual calls for a 6mm hose, and the fitting is also specified as 6mm. The issue I am having is the fitting is NOT 6mm. it is more like 3/16.

I installed the hose and it comes right off.

Could someone at Bombardier have changed this??? I am doubting this, since the paint does not appear to be chipped.

I am debating if I should change the fitting to the 290940557 that is called out in the parts manual.

There is 0.049" difference between 6mm and 3/16". There is also supposed to be a cable tie on there to hold it on the barbed end of the fitting.

There is no way the cable tie will compress the hose enough to create any type of seal. The hose on the exhaust is also 6 MM, and it fits as it should.

No. They are both new 6 MM hoses. I thought about getting a piece of 3/16 hose, and a coupler to fit the two together since the end on the rear of the ski is 6 mm. It might be easier to buy a new fitting, but I don't know if this was some special flow restricted fitting.

The fittings are calibrated, there is a # on the elbow. This is a 657 right? If so I have one here I can check in the AM and measure anything for you.

I'll have to measure it. But I think........that fuel line is measured on the id, and the tubing that seadoo used is 6mm od, meaning the id is like 4mm. I'm not at the shop to measure one, so this is just a hunch right now.

It is. The hose I used I purchased for the entire ski. The fuel hose was done by the prior owner except for the vent. I purchased hose for all water outlets, and oil injection / crank case. I will measure the fitting with caliipers

I purchased a new one and it is the same size... I put a larger cable tie on it, and I was able to get it tightened, but I would like it tighter, bit since it is only a low pressure weeper, I should be ok, but I will keep an eye on it.

Oh, I forgot. I stopped by my parents and looked at my old 91 XP. That line is roughly 6mm OD and the ID fit's snug on the hose barb. the ID is not 6mm. The one on my old ski is a pretty soft rubber so it's real flexible to fit over the fittings. So, I wouldn't put too much merit into the actual part description. I bet 1/4" OD vinyl tubing from Home Depot would be just fine.

Well I used a heat gun to soften the vinyl hose sone, and while hot put on a cable tie. I think we are good now.
