I recently acquired a 1994 GTX and have the shop manual. I have done various levels of repairs on mechanical items in the past. I have the erratic (surging) problem that I have seen so often in these forums. The gray fuel lines are still there and I am in the process of changing them over. Looking at the exterior of the carb, I would say that it probably needs to be rebuilt. A few questions: Do I need a kit to replace many of the seals, internal parts and such? And: The shop manual says to remove the various cables prior to removal of the carb, but doesn’t say how this is done. I am particularly confused by the choke cable, there appears to be no way to disconnect it at the carb. If I can’t figure these out, do you think that maybe I should stay away from overhauling the carb? The detailed steps posted by qstorm do seem easy to follow. Finally, is it possible to extract the small filters in the carbs without removing the whole assembly?

the carbs on that ski are actually easy. they look intimidating but easy. Trust me. Good idea to change all the fuel lines also
Remove the air box, disconnect the fuel lines and cables and carb base screws. Replace the base gaskets too.

Can't figure out the choke cable

Way back when I spent hours trying to put a water pump on a 307 Chevy engine. I went to the library and found out about a screw that I could tighten that held a part that made the job difficult. It took 5 minutes to put this thing on.
The moral is: The book doesn't say how to take the cables off. I don't see what I have to loosen to remove the choke cable. Please let me know what I have to do. I hate to try to do things and wind up breaking something. I am very cautious and try to never force anything.
Please let me know exactly where and what I need to loosen to remove the choke, throttle, and oil pummp cables from the carb. I have all the other documentation.
thanks for the diagram. I do have the shop manual, but it doesn't show the cable hook-ups only the other pictures and posts from this site have them.
