Hello all... I'm currently new to jetski's and not knowing much about them. I was just given a 1992 Bombardier GTX and have been trying to start it. It has last been started about a year or so ago, so i was told. I go to push the (2) buttons on the control panel and all i hear is a Beeping/Buzzing tone and an occasional clicking sound around the engine. I'm not sure what i'm doing or if i'm missing something else to start it.. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

is the battery new/charged? if not don't try and jump it with a car or bad things can happen.

also change the spark plugs and if it had gas and oil in it that was old replace those as well.
Also only run it out of the water for like 15 sec if its not hooked up to a hose and if it is hooked up only run it for a few min and remember when running on the hose\/
1.Start the ski.
2.turn the water on.
3.turn water off when done.
4. give throttle a few quick revs to clear out water then turn ski off.
That way you don't accidentally get water in your engine.

if none of that helps come back. I'm sure more ppl will jump in and lend a hand to help you.

Get it to turn over and first check the compression. It's easy, cheap, and it give you an idea of what you got. If you've got low compression, 90 psi or so, or uneven compression, where one cylinder is drastically different from the other, you know where to start.

Good compression+Getting strong spark+getting plenty of fuel+oil=running motor.

The battery is charged indicating "GOOD" but nothing wants to crank over.. i just keep hearing that beeping tone when buttons are pushed. I did take the spark plugs off and wire brushed them. They didn't look too bad. Keep the comments coming!

might want to make sure it is turning over, while you have the plugs out of the motor... put the wires on the little red hoohaas( the red plug thingie buy the battery...) then hit the starter the green button and the tether switch.... it should turn if not you may have bigger problems

OK the buzzing you are hearing is the starter motor trying to turn the engine over, the clicking is the starter relay. always remember that just cause your voltmeter says it has 12 volts doesnt mean it is good, always load test a battery to verify that it is good. to me it sounds like the battery isnt good or not fully charged.

the buzzing/beeping actually is coming from a "dangling cord" from the steering bars. It is a black looking plug outlet with threads on the outside and a brass/gold plate in the inside. Buzzer Switch assembly?

buzzer is for the overtemp alarm. the temp sensor is on the top of your motor between the spark plugs.

is there a wire attached? if so is it cut or frayed rubbing up/grounding on something like the pipe? the wire should route to the back of the gray box that the spark plug wires and the red battery cable go into.

if the wire isn't attached hunt for it maybe you'll find it re attach it to the sensor.

try turning the motor over by hand ok. if its not cranking at all.

on the pump side of the motor there should be a white plastic shield covering the drive shaft, pull the shield out you can turn the motor by spinning the metal disk/frisbee flywheel on the drive shaft. You'll need to remove both sparkplugs for the motor to spin freely. it doesn't matter which way you turn the motor.

it should spin pretty easily shouldn't take any more then wrist strengh, no upper body HeMan strengh is needed.

Tried the spark plug red hoohaha thingy.. and got the same outcome.

also turned the motor by hand
something just seems to be up with that dangling chord coming from the steering bars, like there should be something connected to it??? This is where the "beeping" tone is coming from.
