Hi, I have a 1990 SP that cavitates on acceleration. Clearances are .020 and the impeller is not beat up. There is some lateral slop (~.005-.010) in the shaft so I suspect a bearing rebuild is needed. Also, for unkown reasons, the leading edge of the wear ring has 1/8" broken out about 1/3rd of the way around. Would this be the cause of cavitation?
If I pull a good pump assembly out of a 1989 SP parts machine, is there anything special to do to make everything align?
