12v low revisited rectifier gsx

My question is I recently rebuilt my motor and snapped the bolt on the magneto cover that holds the ground wires. I moved the wires to another bolt that holds the cover on. Is this spot on the cover important? When I plug in the rectifier jet ski not running the voltage at the battery goes from 12.47 to 11.20, then back to 12.47 when running. Is this a bad rectifier or bad ground? or combo
 
hey...If its the bracket holding the stator plug and makes up grounding posts, then no, its ok..matter a fact, did the same thing,...but your battery should be read'n 14.5-ish while running, when rectifier is plugged in and work'n correctly...:cheers:
 
bump for help please. Could it be a grounding problem? One other thing just reading is it ok to have air pockets in the oil lines that go to each side of the motor.

The air bubbles are in the rotary valve chamber lines. It is no big deal, Its just for the oil sump for the Rotary Shaft in the crank cases. The oil injector lines shouldn't have any air bubbles. Be sure the ground wires are clean and getting a good connection. Here is some info on the charging system;

When the engine is running, set your voltmeter for 20 VDC and put the leads on the correct terminal posts. With the engine running, you should be reading anywhere from 14.5 to 14.8 VDC. (typically this test is done at 5,000 rpms) This tells you your charging circuit is good. If the voltage is higher, the regulator is bad. If you’re not showing a charge and you've replaced the rectifier, you may want to do a test on the Magneto/stator/charging coil. If you’re not a premium member and you don't have access to a manual, this test will be hard to do without it. There are 2 fuses that protect the charging system. Check the 15 amp fuse in the MPEM and the 15 amp fuse between the solenoid and the MPEM.

The magneto and stator create un-regulated AC current. The "rectifier" converts that AC to DC current and the regulator maintains the current between 14 to 14.5 volts DC for the engines operation and charging circuit.

When I plug in the rectifier jet ski not running and the laynard not connected the voltage at the battery goes from 12.47 to 11.20, then back to 11.83 when running. Is this a sign of a bad rectifier???

This was the rectifier, and the sure sign your rectifier is on its way out is if your battery starts to drain slowly after using it for the day. The next day your battery has low volt. Now I can leave the neg connected to the battery it is doesn't drain at all. Just wanted to let people know that are searching for answers to this.
 
12 volt low on 02 GTX DI

I have about the same issue mine shot me the 12 volt low flashing light and beeping a few weeks ago then went away now it stays. I only read 12 volts at the battery when its running.

My question is can I read voltage at the yellow 3 wire plug coming off the stator going into the rectifier while the machine is running so I don't wind up buying a regulator for nothing ?

Hi Tony, Easiest way to check rectifier is, Have good charge on battery, 12v or Higher. Unhook ground on battery, unplug rectifier, mine was in back of electrical box. Hook up the battery and check voltage. It should still be the same voltage as not hooked up. Then unhook battery, plug rectifier back in, and hook up battery. Always hook neg wire first when installing cables and remove neg. wire first when removing cables. If the voltage drops after installing cables, the rectifier bad.
