Will a 1.5 amp maintainer/trickle charger hooked up to my battery while in the ski with +&- hooked up damage my mpem?
Thanks,
Adam

don't put the lanyard on, or push the start button. If the MPEM turns on... and the charger gives a voltage spike when the load changs... yes... it can damage it.

With that said... I charge my skis all the time without disconnecting the battery... but I'm the only one in the house who messes with them.

Doc you're the man! Thank you. I'm just not even going to risk it. I'd rather take the leads off then damage the mpem

**** I have nieces and nephews that visit and like to "play" on uncle Adams' seadoos in the garage when he's not home!

What is the maximum amps that can be used while battery is still connected, using your "careful" proceedure.

I don't think I would go over 1.5a, I use a Battery Tender jr. .75a, and I also have an Optimate .8a.

Good to know, I have always been paranoid of these electronics. unhooking the battery everytime is a PITA. I will go get an Optimate, the lowest my charger goes is 2A.

I love the Optimate, and if your list of ski's is current, then you need one, you have a ton of toys :) plenty of batteries to charge there, and if it saves just one from the trash bin, it pays for itself immediately.

Is there one that will do two Doo's at the same time or do you need to get two. Thank you in advance.

look on amazon, there is a battery tender model that will do two at a time. i think they have four and eight battery models as well.

As long as were talking about it, make sure you buy a charger /maintainer that has float mode. I have seen supposed maintainers that never stop producing 13+ volts. They will literately boil your battery away with continued use. There are some really crappy ones out there. I have bought both types, & learned the hard way by replacing batteries.:(

Which one would you suggest

I bought the Optimate 3+ and am very happy with it. It works real slick and wont boil your batterys. It will Desulfate dead batterys and revive them most of the time.
