08 Challenger SE taking on water!

My father-in-law sucked in my tow rope in the water intake today causing the boat to stop running. The strange thing is that the boat started to fill up with water. The water appears to be coming in from the bottom of a rubber hose. Not sure if it's the drive shaft or not. I came home cut out the rope and the engine seems to run fine. Any idea what the leak could be and is it related to the rope in the intake?

I had the same thing happen to my 07 . The rope misaligned something in the impeller area causing water to come in. Once I removed it there was no more water but the rubber between the impeller and the shaft was destroyed.Check out this blow up

So how much did that cost to fix? What parts had to be replaced?

Well I got a stick caught between the impeller and the wear ring 2 weeks later, so while the shop got the stick out they replaced the couple of Parts $30 in parts $191 total.
