06 gti speed sensor

As everyone is aware the GTI's dont come with a speedsometer yet there is speedometer gauge it just dosent do anything. My question is what do i need to purchase to make that functional. I read in another post that a dealer would have to activate it once installed. Also if anyone has a install diagram of some sort would you please send it to me.
