Yeah, I agree with the direction of this thread, check for anything that could be allowing air into the pump that would allow the impeller to ventilate. Could even be the pump mounting neoprene seal ring if they used one there.

I have to stop posting suggestions for a while, or slow down dramatically, I was just told that my 17 posts per day are interrupting the flow for the premadonnas, LOL.

hahahaha... Well, I appreciate it. I'm not sure if this helps... but I'm only "cavitating" out of the hole. I saw 46 mph via gps a few nights ago, so my top end is where it needs to be. So wouldn't an air leak affect me at all speeds?

Steps to repair...

1.) Repair the hole in the hull.
Test... still cavitating
2.) Replace carbon seal
Test... still cavitating?
3.) Reseal ride plate
Test... still cavitating?? Then what?

Also... what is the "Zip tie" trick in reference to the carbon seal??

The zip tie adds more pressure on the carbon seal- temp. / testing fix. I would think the pump seal would be bad before the ride plate but who knows.

As mentioned,,,

Loosen the clamps on the bellows, slide the bellows toward the carbon seal, out a zip tie around the shaft in the space you created by sliding the bellows, tighten the clamps.

If you were sucking air this trick should help. It also helps with the leak if you were leaking water at more than a drip which is normal as it provides cooling.
