Hey guys.. just picked up my ski today and have a concern i need some tips on. The guy I bought it from wasn't exactly totally honest about the wear and tear part, but.. its ok i can deal..the skis overall in good shape, just the hull is banged up alot. He claimed it had 'low hrs' in his ad, when i asked him how many he said 'honestly i dont know but not a ton.. fairly low.' Today when I picked it up I was flipping through the modes while it was running (dont think he expected me to do that) and noticed the hr meter says 0.3. I know theres no way this ski has 0.3 hrs! He then said 'oh yeah i dont think that gauge is right.' After being shocked and saying umm excuse me lol.. We negotiated price and I took it home. The battery was dead prior to me arriving, and out of the ski on charge, then we put it back in to start it. I do need to buy a new one as it wont stay charged and is a pretty old batt. But, would the battery dying cause the hour meter to reset to zero?? I didnt think this was possible. Any thoughts on this or what could have caused it? I'm guessing now i have no idea of ever recording the hrs.

Nevermind! lol... yeah i was thinking the same but apparently I resolved it today. I bought a new battery and when i had it running the meter was working and showed 640hrs. It was 0.3 when jumped on the old batt but I guess he either didnt have enough juice in the battery or have it running long enough to register.. who knows.. 640 high? seems a bit high for a 00' 951..

640 does seem a little high for a 2000. Assuming that he bought it in 2000, and rode every year since, thats 71.1 hours/year. Let's say for argument's sake, that you like me only ride April-October (since we both live up North) that is 11.8 hours/month. If he only rode on Sat and Sun, thats 2.95 hours/weekend. so if you break it down, its not that bad, but still seems like a lot.

One tip I can provide is check the oil cable at the oil pump. My cable broke, and I dumped a SBT in and it was costly. My cable broke at the end, and the motor developed a hole in the case, and had trouble running. lol

Ride safe, and enjoy your new toy!
