    Winterizing question

I'm winterizing my 97 GTX and 98 GTI, and was wondering if it will work to hook a short garden hose up to the flushing inlet at back of jet ski, then turning on motor and pouring antifreeze into hose to flush it through the engine. Seems easier to me than unhooking hoses from motor, etc. Just...

Thanks! Got my tach hooked up in my 98 GTI

:hurray:Thanks for all the advice and input. I hooked a 97 GTX tach up to my 98 GTI. Connected the "power in/power out" connectors between the guages (Fuel to Tach to Speedo), then ran the grey wire from the tach (with a 20K Ohm resistor on it) down into the black/yellow wire going into the...

RPM's DROP AND GO UP AND DROP

I had the same problem with my 98 GTI...would surge/drop at high rpms...did the same thing mentioned above and it fixed it 100%. Cleaned the bowl and the inside screen, and now it runs great...no surges.

    Quick tachometer wire question

Hi, I'm installing an OEM tach in my 98 GTI. Done a lot of research on line and found two different recommendations for what wire to hook up the grey tach signal wire to. 1. Tap into black/red wire from magneto to rectifier 2. Tap into yellow/black wire from magneto to rectifier Which is the...

    Can I add a tach to a 98 GTI?

Pulled off the hood bottom cover, and the only wires are from the fuel gauge and the speedometer. The speedometer wire has a connector on it, but it's already connected. There are no other wires/connectors. So...any ideas on how I wire the tach in? Thanks anyone for any suggestions.

    Can I add a tach to a 98 GTI?

Thanks Dr. Honda! The tach has two wires with connectors on the ends, so I'll pull off the bottom cover and see if there are a couple of connectors to hook it up to. I hope so! Thanks for the advice.

    Can I add a tach to a 98 GTI?

Just bought a 98 GTI, and it has a fuel guage and speedometer. It also has a third opening (with a cover on it), so I was wondering if I could install a tachometer in the opening. I got a used on on eBay, but I'm not sure on how to wire it? Any advice on how to hook it up? Thanks!!

Thanks for the great advice!! Worked perfectly, and the speedo is working again. The flat screwdriver was perfect for pulling out the speedo from it's fitting. Again...thanks!

Speedometer needle under stop pin--how to fix that/

I have a 98 GTI, and the speedometer needle slipped below the stop pin. It tries to run, but can't get past the pin. How can I fix that? Can you remove the glass cover on the speedometer? Thanks!
