The aftermarket ones will work but I prefer to rebuild a clean OEM pump. They seem to be made with higher quality material. You'll want to upgrade to the newer style pump as well (2000 and later if i remember correctly). The 98 was more prone to cracking than the later years.

They pop up fairly often on the facebook seadoo X4 groups. A few guys still run them but majority (include myself) prefer the Factory Pipe Spec 2 (or spec 1 for rec).

The 97 is still raced today so it’s def worth the mods. Head, pipe, carbs, jet pump, and a zeel to start.

How much compression and whats your squish? What impeller? 7140 in the water on a 951 is pretty good for stock carbs and pump gas.

Only way out of water would be a dyno. You'd have to pull engine out of ski and have spare electronics or pull them too.

Flywheels are the same, its the mag cup that is different for single coil vs dual coil setups. The single coil cup is the same as the 787 engines so readily available.

Thats a 93 XP and I usually replace the grab bar with a black plastic one. The 96 XP is all yellow and has a much bigger engine.
