There's a test in the FSM for the pickup sensor I believe. I made a tool from an old ski from the wireharness... but realistically... no. you're going to have to pull the pipe in a GTX to get the cover off to inspect the magneto and pickup sensor... if it's in bad condition it could be telling...

cuz 2 is better than 1? I don't know, it's no longer a wasted spark system, but I can't say it's magically superior. CDI in the MPEM? no idea I assume just the correct ones in the parts diagram? I do not know :-/ My preference was to only work on the 99+. Ideally the 01+

I'm not sure what the right stuff refers to, but you can install/remove the jet pump all day long. It's just 4 nuts and a rubber lip seal... go for a ride with the seat off and check for water coming from anywhere. maybe a missed hose? the one under the pipe is fun. there's 3 on the pipe total...

I would also verify the magneto/pickup sensor are all good condition.

Are you actually able to get ahold of a new one? most new orders here say at least a year out... I'd make sure you have the new one in-hand before anything... and yes, I regret selling all my stuff, but sometimes you have to move on.

you can replace the paddle wheel with a GPS sensor now. if you want a working speedo - that's your best option and I believe in the same ballpark price anyway.

I believe the rear e-box is just the ignition coils. it shouldn't do much for your issue. I suspect the DESS post as well.

the 97.5 was white and the first 951. very rare. easily explodes. special pipe 1998 was the first run of the 951. some problems. single coil ignition. 99-02 are 99% the same engine wise.

the 951 is known to grenade around 250 hours. you may want to look into a full rebuild vs. top end.

I'd second leave it stock, but I've only owned 6 951 skis and fixed more than I can count. including a 99 GSX Ltd. I'll get the popcorn ready.

yea, i did that when mine fell off my work bench. shelled out the $60 or so.

I became an accidental carb 951 pseudo expert... had 5 or 6 of them in my garage at one point. Fixed more than I can recall. I've moved on to my pseudo Mercruiser 350 degrees now though. Water is the same, but I'm less sore after rides now.

Carb 951s do not have a separate rectifier.

98 was the first 'full' year of the 951. some changes were made 99-02. follow the settings for the 99. I assume you're talking about the 951 ski.?

wet feet?! try using a 99+ XP... just staying right side up is a challenge. :p
