1996 XP - Water Valve Regulator/ Water Box and bogging?

Did you try bypassing that cheap fuel valve? It could be sucking air in. Try running a line from the RES or the ON barb on the fuel baffle to the inlet of the carbs. You can put a cheap 1/4' inline filter in there to make sure you don't suck up debris from the tank during the test. Also I can't...

1996 XP - Water Valve Regulator/ Water Box and bogging?

I was talking about the big rubber hose that goes between the waterbox and the outlet. Some of them are weak and squishy when you squeeze it from the outside. They separate from the inside when skis run long periods of time without enough water flowing through it. A good hose will feel like a...

Looking to purchase 1996 speedster 717 tachometer

If you post I pic I can look in my stuff to see if I have it. I have been able to help out a couple members with the 97 Speedster gauges but I know the 96's look a little different.

    Aftermarket 787 Performance Heads

Twist was a company between MSD and Rossier that was set up in the mid to late 90's. It has the same water routing as the ADA heads.

    X0 on Stock Engine RPM?

6800 is great. 6700-6900 is what you see on a strong healthy stock 787. The Solas XO might take some rpm away especially with a tight wear ring but it should add a mph or so.

96 XP turns over but won't start

Yeah I figured. Your description of the moment of death was very good and I've been there. The good news is that you have a great (maybe best ever) model ski and it is definitely worth fixing.

    Sleeper explorer?

You must have a 99 GTX since that pic is from a 951. They are great running engines but they fail commonly compared to other engines. If you get everything right at the same time they will go for 200-300 hrs.

96 XP turns over but won't start

Doesn't sound to me like the compression test is gonna go well.

    Sleeper explorer?

Adapting the 155 pump is a lot of work if you do it right. I have seen others just stretch the two lower pump holes and just stick it on there with silicone. I am not sure if there’s room up in there because I have not converted and explorer myself. An easier solution would be to keep the 140 mm...

    Seadoo impeller question

A 14/19 is not for the 720. It would yank your arms off but top out at 44ish of your 52mph potential. The 16/21 swirl is the sweet spot for 720 power, that's what the sport spec HX racers use. As mentioned the straight edge impellers have different pitch #'s then the swirls though.

    Sleeper explorer?

Not sure if you will have the room underneath the seat but anything can be done. The easier solution would be to get a fresh 717 and then use the big hub 140mm pump from the later 717 powered craft. Those help get things going out of the hole a lot better. There are a couple ways to go on the...

Tuning a Oil Injector - 1992 Seadoo SP

Yeah they have a good tone and a little better flow but like they said it won't improve performance much on it's own. You won't hurt anything by using it. The strap loop on the bottom breaks off on a lot of them so if it's missing you'll want to support it underneath with something that won't rust.

No it's just something someone jammed in there for some reason.

    96 XP revival

Just trim the leads (spark plug wires) back to good wire. Normally you only have to take about 1/4-1/2 inch off to get back to all 7 strands. Try a fresh set of plugs.
