Check your wear ring. If you dont want to take everything apart look from the back or the intake grate underneath and see how much of a gap there is between the impeller and the wear ring which is around it. All it will take is less than 5 minutes and a flashlight.

After my 2003 GTX 4-tec sucked up a rock i took it out by removing the grate underneath and removing the rock. However now when i ride i cant get the speed i did before around 60 i get 40 and it is slow to get there with little low end power. i think that the wear ring my have been ripped up...

It depends what motor you have but my friends '99 gtx does around 50.

Thanks for this information i will defiantly look around the site on how to do this, however where would you recommend getting a new impeller and wear ring? and what type do i need, you mentioned an upgrade?

As we were bringing our jetski that we just recently got, an '03 GTX 4-tec in idle speed it sucked up a rock. This is only my second time out on it and I would like to corrected this problem. I later read that the jet ski sucks from as deep as a few feet, how do i get the rock out from inside...
