Not cranking

I have been flushing the sludge out and I noticed the idle is high. It seemed to get higher as it ran for a minute or two. Now when I turn it on it idles pretty high. The throttle lever is smooth so I don’t really know why it’s idling high. Is it because it is out of water or something?

They will idle higher out of the water, supposed to idle at 3000 rpm roughly out of the water and 1500 in the water. Does that have an rpm gauge? I’ve found that they will idle a little high when the fuel system is sucking air. Also I would be more concerned with how it idles in the water, as long as it’s not running away, I wouldn’t stress to much over it idling a little high out of the water, but it does sound like it’s sucking some air from somewhere. Do you have a tool to pressure test the selector valve? Actually test it with 2 to 4 pounds of vacuum. I think I asked this already, but does it have black or clear fuel lines? Grab a new o ring for the filter or test the filter with vacuum. If it won’t stop climbing in idle you could leak test the crankcase in case ilthe outer seals are sucking some air. Come to think of it, my HX also idled high like this till I went through the fuel system

The fuel lines are not original they were replaced. I will take it out to the water soon to see what it does. It kinda feels like it’s running away when I’m running it out of water. No rpm gauge. No special tool. I will do some research and some testing to see if it’s sucking air somewhere.
