96 XP Restoration

Hey Guys, I am starting the restoration of a 96 XP that I got in a package deal a couple of years ago. It was in pretty nice shape, but had a SBT motor put in it in 2003. At the time I got it, it ran but had low compression in the pto cylinder. I now have it completely stripped down to the hull and going through everything to see what parts I am going to need.

1. I am tearing down the motor now and I am wondering. Would you consider reusing the SBT crank, RV shaft and counter balance if they seem to be in good shape? Or would you go with something else?

Well I split the cases today and the crank is junk. A few of the bearings make a little noise and the Mag side had a really bad welded
up fix on it. It was so bad that the end bearing actually had a little wobble to it on the shaft. It looks like they welded it up and took a
hand grinder to it. I can see why SBT has a bad reputation.

Sounds like typical SBT.
