Titan brand valve housing

Has anyone used these Titan brand rave valve housings? I'm a bit suspect of them because of the $24.95 price on BayAreaPowerSports.com and most other sites are charging $80 to $90 for OEM parts.

I have a '96 and a '97 GSX . I only put less than 10 hours on the skis per year. They only have about 140 hours total each. Compression 150 on both skis.

I've replaced the rave o-rings a couple times in the past few years because of oil leaking or once I actually had a melted Piston Exhaust. One housing is currently leaking oil blow by with the exhaust. And one Piston Exhaust on each ski has the plastic threads stripped or melted out. It is still held in place by the compression spring above and bellows below and moves freely up and down with the rave so does it even matter that the threads are missing and it just sits on top of the rave valve stem or must I replace the Piston Exhaust too? I definitely don't get that sudden thrust at 4500 RPM that practically pulls my arms out of their sockets when the raves open up like I used to get. I didn;t know if that was because of the stripped Poston Exhausts or something else? The raves may just need cleaned, it's been a couple years but onky a few hours of run time since last cleaning. I run Amsoil Interceptor.

How tightly should the rave stem fit thru the housing? Mine have a slight lateral movement so I wasn't sure if I just need to replace the o-rings again or if I should replace the housings because that is that what is causing the Piston Exhausts to strip? BTW, I did replace the Raves a few years back (with the slotted version), at least on one ski, I don't remember off the top of my head if I've replaced them in both skis.

That was my guess, Does it sound like I actually need new rave housings or just new o-rings?

I took some measurements on some housing a while back and I found (.012") wear from new. I replaced the housings with the ones you mentioned. They wore out so fast on my skis it was unbelievable. The material is way too soft. I saved the housings and was planning on installing a bushing but I haven't don't that yet. On the diaphragms I install springs on the bottom. and that stops that oil from leaking out to a great degree. I have also used o-rings for the same purpose but they don't last as well.

One caution is that when installing the raves you make sure the blade does not drag or contact the bottom gasket. I melted one pretty quick so now I check and make sure they are free. Good Luck !!

I twist aircraft wire instead of the springs
What size wire do you use? I know that stuff will work better than springs and o-rings and prices for those springs are way north of insane. I use stainless safety wire on my race bikes but the stuff I have seems too big for that application. I think my smallest is (.032") Thanks for the tip.

I assume the spring you put on the bottom of the bellows are the spring clamps (part #11) in the attached diagram of a 2000 GSX? Interesting that the Rave design changed in 2000 adding parts 8,9,10,11 not used on earlier years.spring clamp.png

Yea probably 11. I've used o-rings on occasion but I don't know how long they hold up. They are damn proud of those springs. Shop around.

At $6.49 per spring, I just assumed they are gold plated and will last forever.

I've seen them for a lot more than that price. It's a steal. They catch back with shipping though.
