1997 gti HELP

Took the GTI out yesterday and it felt like a clutch was slipping like a car pulled the

pump and the wear ring is shot I will attach a picture is this what would cause the clutch slip feeling??

Yes, it's called cavitation and it feels exactly as you explained. While you have it apart, most would recommend changing the pump oil as well in that cone that you took off

I've seen trashed drive shafts be heated up and bent into a 90 and used like a big wrench. A cheater bar can even be added for extra twisting power...

Should I file down any imperfections on the tip of the impeller blades

My blades weren't too bad, I sanded mine down a bit.. I didn't have a need to remove the impeller
