4-TEC Seadoo Winterizing 2002 non supercharger model, since this is a sealed cooling unit, just the exhaust system needs coolant ran through it? Looks like on service manual for storage it says "look at coolant section", there really is not much there but the exhaust? Just unhook the "in section hose" and run through coolant till exits, should I maybe partially clamp the exit to slow coolant to build up the level so all parts get filled?

The exhaust is self draining BUT it is wise to blow air thru the water line ( I do this with the engine running ) OR set up a bucket with RV coolant and a bilge pump- start your ski, turn on your bilge pump and pump in 1-2 gallons of coolant in the flush port, turn pump off, turn ski off and your done. On a S/C engine this is a must due to the intercooler.

OR set up a bucket with RV coolant .
can this coolant be used in the skies all the time or even car coolant? or is it required to use some special coolant? as I have just noticed my coolant is low
sorry for butting into someone's thread. pwgsx

Pink rv coolant is ONLY for winterizing the cooling lines and intercooler in the engine so they don't freeze. Do NOT use this in a car or on your ski/boat closed loop cooling system. Green 50/50 is used there.

Dump 2 gallons of the pink rv stuff in a bucket, drop in your pump and connect to the ski. Start the ski and turn on the pump like you would for flushing after riding. When the bucket is almost empty shut the pump off and then the engine quickly. You are now done!

If i dilute the pink RV coolant by adding water to it wont it be the same or close to 50/50 green stuff? I am going to be doing my 2014 gti limited and want to be sure its the right coolant.. No supercharger here so what is actually needed and is the pink stuff diluted not good?

Pink antifreeze is already pre-diluted, read the bottle if you don't believe us. The reason we like to use pink RV antifreeze is because it is non-toxic. Some of the antifreeze will stay in the exhaust cooling system, especially the muffler boxes. Next season when you take it out for the first run this residual antifreeze will get dumped into the lake. If you use regular green automotive antifreeze it will also get dumped into your lake and could do harm the water and all the little creatures swimming around under the sea.

It takes 2-3 gallons of pink antifreeze because of the time needed for it to circulate around the entire exhaust cooling system. It also has to dispel 1-2 gallons of raw water that is always sitting in your muffler boxes. I like to run it through until it comes out of the jet pump AND exhaust port nice and pink (engine running of course). Takes 1-2 minutes depending on how fast your bilge pump is. In 1-2 minutes a bilge pump will empty 2-3 gallons easy.

Also, one of the members did an experiment last year to test effectiveness of pink RV antifreeze in freezing temps. and several different dilutions. Interesting and worth a look:

The reason i ask about diluting it is because the instructions on the bottle itself say to add water to fully fill the bottle as only about 1/6 of it has the pink stuff.image.jpg

I have never seen a brand of RV antifreeze concentrate like that. The stuff I see and buy is already premixed. In your case I would follow the directions and mix the concentrate with water to make the proper dilution.

What brand is it? Do you buy it 5/6 empty and then just add water?

Maybe they do it this way now to save on shipping costs, shipping half empty bottles probably saves them money.

I have always used the Pink Stuff straight. In theory, you dilute it when you put it in your engine that has water in it,,,,

yea i was a bit confused because everyone said to just use it from the bottle but this bottle said to mix it with water.yea the bottle was 1/6 pre filled i then filled each a bit less than full (trying to account for any excess water that might still be within the system)and using the bilge pump/buck method forced it in thruough the flush port until pink was coming out of all the possible areas. Fogged the cylinders through the sparks but couldn't remove the fuel rail/injectors since i didn't have the proper tool for the bolts. I think this should be good enough.

Sounds like you are all good with regard to the RV antifreeze. Never knew it came as a concentrate like you purchased, seems reasonable though.

As far as fogging, I also only spray it down the spark plug holes. I just make sure to spray plenty in each cylinder, put the plugs back in and then turn the motor over a few times in 'drown-mode' to help distribute the fogging oil around the combustion chamber.
