Hey guys,

I have a couple older seadoos that could use some new handlebar grips.

What handlebar grips are you using?

Are they easy to install? Do I need to do anything other then cut the old ones off and use some type of glue to slide the new ones on?

If it matters, I'm looking for grips for:
1996 GSX
1996 GTX
1999 GSX Limited

Thanks!

OEM

Yes..

I believe you take the grip end cap off and unbolt it. loosen any other stuff attached to it then slide it off and reinstall the new one.

Not sure if that's all to it, I've never done it completely.

I used these on my GTX. They are called lizard skin and are lock on type. They are made for mountain bikes (I ride those too :coolgleam:), but they worked great for me. They are a little longer than the handle bar, but they have a plastic tube that runs throughout the inside of the grip. I actually used silicone to get the end caps to stay on but it has held up nicely. They feel good and are longer than OEM which I think is nice. ODI makes a nice set as well.

yes, it's just a single 10mm bolt under the rubber cap. very easy.

I always wanted to put on heated ones, from a motorcycle... i thought that would be nice.

I just installed a pair of those troy lees from odi on my 99xpl they look and feel great.

Yea they are nice, I had a set on one of my old fourwheelers. I went with the lizard skins because I got a great deal on them on ebay. Im about to order another set for my xp and may go with ODI. How far did your grips stick out off the handle bar? seems like the old set I had on my quad were shorter than the LS grips.

I also was looking to replace my 1996 grips and looked at allot of grips. The ODI and others look cool, but I went ahead and ordered a new set of stock grips even though they cost $30 on Ebay with free shipping. I like the way the stock grips get bigger on the ends and have some give to them. I have large hands and most of the bike type grips are fairly skinny. Since Seadoo seems to have stuck with these grips for a long time they must work pretty well. Figured I stick with stock for my first set and go from there. Let us know what and where you get yours!

Has anyone used the newer BRP grips on an older ski (included link to amazon)

I have someone who wants to put them on a 95 SPI - they like the look and insert colors. However the advertising states they are for 2000 and up.

They fit but will come up short on the controls. You can use a piece of rubber tubing(3/4" ID heater hose might work) to fill the gap @Jetskigoodies does it with his skis. If you check out the gallery pics of his (click on his name) you will see them on the XP's he has done. I'm on the fence on them for my HX. If I put them on the HX I'm going to use O-rings to fill the gap, to mimic the look of the inside end of the grips. On my XP I put a set of the OEM grips on, I never found anything wrong with them.
