I feel like I've been dumped by my favorite girlfriend! All dressed up and.... well, you know what I mean!

Haha, Not much has been happening, Its was pretty much dead for the two weeks. Why..., well because Uni started, I've got a few cars i'm working on, I bought a quad bike project thats is now fixed and ready for some backyard fun:p and most importantly, having changed the outboard from a pull start only to a pull start and electric start, I was having troubles sorting out the wiring harness. I'm happy to say its now done:)
I've yet to finish hooking up the controls, the fuel line system for the dual fuel tanks, Fit the tube back on and should get it tested, "if all goes well" this weekend:)

You have more irons in the pot than anyone I know.

You write a book or at least post pictures of your projects as you work on them.

We need a video of the maiden voyage of this project!!!!

(I still think a turbine engine would have been better...) :lols:

seriously !! ive been a quiet lurker on this build trying to soak up as much info as possible but now i want to feel like i have a beer in my hand sitting in the back seat with the water splashing on my faceee

TADAAAAAA,

A big thx to all the guys who helped me create and complete this project with all the advice, And to those who doubted me, well, I YOUR FACE!!!!:p haha

I really happy and proud of myself for building it and how it turned out. Well its not been water tested yet but it should be ok if the honda engine one is. Only issue is my main switch isolator ****ed up so i had to connect everything directly. I'll need to find a better one than the $15 ebay one.

Yes this thing was really miss treated and had quite a few leaks. And i need a steering adjustment:) I wish i can find a cheapish better tube some day, I'll keep and eye out...
That shot looking circle and wires is were the old nav light use to be, will try and cover it up somehow.
Ohh and at the top of the ski pole i plan to add a stern Light to cover the hole but also its a good place for it:)

Sry i don't understand the iron comment, is it good or bad? Excuse my french background lol.

Hi Guy,

Too many irons in the fire is just American slang for being too busy or having too many projects. I think the term originated in the old west when the cowboys were branding free range cattle and got confused about which brands went on which cattle. So you'll have to excuse SDB, between you and me I think a few of his roos are out of the paddock.

Crisso and I exchange Australian and American slang.

Lou

Ohhhh, yep lol, its true, two project cars, an offroad capable one and a street coupe, Alternating form one to the other to drive around depending on which is drivable, The Boat, The jet Ski, Now a Quad...., Hummmm all i need now is a bike and a mini plan and i'll be able to go anywhere:p lol

looks great, anxious to see video of the maiden voyage. when do you expect to put it in the water?

SDB is having another senior moment. The actual saying is "Irons in the fire"

Yeah, guess I was thinking chickens in every POT.
darn, now I have to change all my SDB for pres signs...... :)

What's a paddock?

Guyph - Great looking boat, you did a awesome job on it.
question - If the tube springs a big leak and deflates, will the boat still float?

every time i look at this i wish i kept it... awesome job man i look forward to seeing it down on the river

Ok guys,
I'm happy to report its been 3days since i pumped up the tubes and they are still full of air:) I'm quite happy of my patching job there:)
So went to the river and got the boat in the water. Must have got some sort of Hex from Macgyver as the engine was powerless lol. Well it went ok i guess but doing wake behind was a really struggle on take off:( So since yesterday i've put the engine up for sale for a reasonable cheap price and its now sold. I'm now on the hunt for something with bigger balls:) Again being on a tight budget i'm not sure if i'll be able to afford something new or newish:(.

Anyway, here is a pic, unfortunately we were then too concentrated on the wake and boat etc that we didn't take more:(

I promise to get some good pics with the coming engine.
But overall i'm really pleased with it. Turns super tight and easy, sit well on the water. A little rear heavy but with someone at the front and once it off its great. Can't wait to have a bigger engine:)

I think what Sink suggested would be good.
A 250 black Max from Merc. Of course you would probably never plane out as the front would always be pointing up towards the sky :)

Guy,

First I would like to congratulate you on what you have done. Don't let these guys get you down, this is not science, you and I both know there is no way to predict how this project it going to turn out. I'm thinking a few more HP and you'll be there. You know the explorer was probably underpowered from the factory 85HP for a craft this big is not very impressive. So when you finish this project you'll have a craft better than the factory original.

You know that I've been with you on this project and the 95XP from the beginning, and I admire you for the time and patience that you have put into both projects.

Your friend,

Lou

Thx Lou, I'm just having fun as much as i can and at the moment i'm at uni, on 3days a week so making the most of the free time i have but also being on a tight budget i'm trying to get the best i can afford. I'd love to get a new of a couple of year old engine and be done with it but i can't afford it so i hunt around for bargains and take a chance on old, used stuff hoping they have still got enough life in them:)

And i like sharing the progress with you guys just to let you know what i'm up too:) but also because most of you guys have help a lot with this build and the ski build with suggestions but also you time even some offered to organise, buy, ship parts for me that i have really appreciated:) Its one way of keeping you guy up to speed and saying thx:)

Anyway back to the build. I found a 55 mariner, which is a re-branded yami also from the research on it. Old but a good motor. I know its not a much bigger step up but its cheap and for the price it is at the moment i don't mind giving it a go to see how it is. Good thing its smallish and similar size to the other i had. Mounting position is similar.
Thats another thing, the bigger 60-80hp engine have a much bigger transom mounting bracket that half hang out on my rear transom:( SO at least this 55hp will bolt up properly i hope to what ive got. I don't want to go make another transom up.
Also as a bonus its got elec tilt trim function:)

I guess there only one way to find out and i'll see when it gets here:)

You have a done a great job for your project.
you are getting a 37% increase of power from the 40 to the 55hp. I hope it's what you want and don't have to go bigger.
