I think my 96 XP VTS box is shot. Motor works with 12 volts but I only get a click from the box. If I try it several times it blows the 7.5 amp fuse. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the "trimfix" seen offered on Ebay. Know anybody who has tried it? Is it as easy to install as they say? Sure would be a cheap fix if it worked. here's the web site: www.thetrimfix.com

I'm sure it works fine. BUT... if you are handy with a soldering iron... you can do the same thing with a couple 2 pole relays.

the thing i like about that trimfix system is that is moves the the box away from the bottom of the hull, where it is very subseptable to water. i fixed my vts box but still have not gotten my gauge to work. the good thing about their system is it is cheaper than even a used vts box. and when it comes down to it, the way brp did the trim on the late 90's doo's was faulty and is a ticking time bomb.

Thanks for the input guys. My gauge is inop as well. I'm thinkin it's worth a shot. Also need a fuel level sending unit and I'm golden for the summer.

i too would like to hear from somebody that has used it....dr honda can you elaborate on makin it work with two relays???

idk if its just my browser but i cant get the link to work, even did a search and the site doesnt work.i also have a problem with my guage not showing where my trim is sitting at will this fix that?or does anyone know how to fix that problem

Not sure why it don't work but I've been in touch by email and he gave his phone number to make an order. Try Todd at: 530-391-4504. or www.thetrimfix.com Tell him trox sent ya, maybe he'll cut me some slack when I order the system.

Well I got the TrimFix installed and it seems to work good but the gage fix is not working ...yet. (you pay extra for the gage fix) I need to call Todd at "theTrimFix" to see what's up with that. Has anyone used this gage fix yet? You glue a magnet on the side of the sliding portion of the worm screw and glue a pickup to the outside of the case. I get nothing so far.

Well keep me posted, for some odd reason my gauge started workin again this weekend but I only kno that means it's gna fail soon. Maybe post some pics or video of your install it'll help alot of us out. Oh btw I finally got the site to pull up.

I installed both the TrimFix VTS module and the gauge fix on my '96 XP....running them for 6 months now and they work great...

Only tricky part was modifying the plastic worm gear so "overtravel" is prevented -- I had to leave it about 1/8" to 1/4"
longer than the instructions said to keep it from traveling off the VTS actuator rod. The gauge module is a little tricky to install
for an accurate reading but I got it real close now. Might want to duct tape it on the first few tries and then get it
installed permanently as close as you can to the temporary setting. The gauge works now but is an estimate of position
even at its best. It was well worth the $80...

Can u post any pics so we can see what all u did on ur install
First pic is the VTS TrimFix main module just 5200'ed to the VTS motor housing cover with the motor wires going though the cover...instructions are clear for the unit and the wires are labeled and fused. Second pic is fuzzy but is the gauge module also 5200'ed to the side of the VTS housing...its tough to get a pic here with the battery installed.
You have to make sure that the little magnet has not fallen off the actuator rod inside the motor housing that is moved by the plastic worm gear if you want the gauge fix to work. Best part of this fix is that it bypasses ALL of the flaky electronics in the original system -- cr@ppy reed switches, poor fuse selection, etc.. Trimming the worm gear is the best way to prevent VTS "overtravel"; the alternative method for overtravel protection in the kit (the little PVC "collar") is junk and will surely fail after some period of use. I tried that at first and it failed miserably within 5 hours of riding.

just thought id put my 2 cents in, just installed mine, and hooked up the gauge fix as well... everything works like stock EXCEPT the factory stops, so be careful to stop pushing the button...

but the gauge works as inteded, and dont have to worry about water intrusion, i left my box in a puddle of water just to see if it will hold up...
