I have a brand new batter and a brand new starter. But once I push the start button, it goes for a couple of rotations and then it stops. It feels like a dead batter or week starter, but thats not the case. Any ideas?

Do you mean I should disconnect the spurk plugs and try to start the engine? Both of together or one by one?

Yah...maybe a compression thing, also, is it a oem starter??, heard aftrmrkt not great. oh yah, also, sum starters have difrent # of teeths on bendix.
Compression??, maybe battery is new, but not fully charged??

I had exatly same problem before. I was told to change the battery, Recharge the new battery and finally change the starter. I did so. I bought the starter from a shop which I was referred to by Forume people. Seems like these guys are good and they are giving me 1 year warrenty on their produce. They claimed that it is the oem part. Who knows. I trusted their good reputation.

I go check the sparks right now. I will keep you posted.

OK. I disconnected the spaurks one by one and then both together. No difference. Except no it just cliks when I push start. No rotation at all. I checked the electeric box and its clean. (An Authorized dealer charged me $285.00 to clean the electeric box less than a month ago!) The boat started at the dealer shop when I tested it and it never worked again.

Could be starting relay or start button playing up. Does it turn over like new when it does turn?
If the dealer has touched it get them to fix it!!

try jump'n the solenoid, where batt cable goes into MPEM box, you'll see batt wire attached to one side, then other cable, goin to starter.
Jump ththose post w/ screwdriver/thick gage wire. C wat happens

Coil packs maybe? Just a thought because when I bought my sportster a few months ago, I had problems starting mine. Two of my coil packs were bad.
