hey i am getting a new sea doo soon and want something sporty how would a 98+xp compare to a current fourstroke two seater??? and any pro and cons of the XP!!!!! just looking for what you guys think

I have a 98 and a 96 XP. Two completely different machines. The 98 is fast and more stable than the 96. It has been a pain in the a** lately with maitainance. Cracked the case due to getting water in the engine. I understand that is a common problem. Then the stator went bad. Now the starter wont work. I think the last two item are just associated with age. I don't have any knowledge of the newer craft or the 4 strokes as far as reliability, but I here they are getting faster. 70+ for the Seadoo RXP.

I'm sure others will chime in with better info. than what I have.

Good luck.

If you wanna go really fast by yourself the XP is awesome. I wouldn't buy it if you wanna ride two people on it, it will get really tipsy. Also, letting friends ride it that don't have a clue about them is not good. It's hard to explain the power that thing has to somebody thats never ridin one before and also the way it handles, they will for sure sling themselves off and risk flipping it over. If it's for you, get it. I love mine, top speed on smooth water is about 62. I don't know anything about the brand new RXP's but they sure are cool.

I have been pulled up on 2 skis on my 96 XP. Pulled me up no problem, and wasn't out of control when I went side to side.

But it is illegal in most places to ski with only 1 person on the ski, and one in the water.

I found that it IS legal here, as long as I have mirrors, but they have to be 3"X4" and I am not sure if they are that big.

Basically, most places require the ski to be big enough to haul 3 people...one driver, one spotter, and the exhausted skier once he goes down.
