Alright, I have a 1995 sea doo xp. Last summer i would ride it, it would start up fine, but the battery light would be on though, and then if i would ride it for too long, the battery would be competely dead. But then if i were to let it sit for a couple hours it would usually come back. So at the begining of the this season, I bought a new battery, but still the same problem. Im just learning about it, but I talked to a dealer and he said maybe the stator or something else. Anyone have a idea what it is or how i can tell. Thanks for all the help.

What engine does yours have? 787?? Seadoo's use what is called a "Magneto." It works like a car's alternator to keep the battery charged. In yours, the magneto has a 3 phase, delta wound stator on 18 poles. Capacity is 270 watts. This might help. Right out of manual.

SYMPTOM: DISCHARGED OR WEAK BATTERY
CAUSE REMEDY
1. Battery posts and/or
cable terminal
oxidized.
Clean and coat with
dielectric grease.
2. Loose or bad
connections.
Check wiring and
connector cleanliness,
damaged or short circuit.
3. Faulty battery
(sulfated, doesn’t
keep a full charge,
damaged casing,
loose post).
Replace.
4. 15 amp fuse(s) burnt
or faulty rectifier.
First check fuse.
If it is in good condition,
check rectifier/regulator.
5. Faulty battery
charging coil
(or stator).
Replace.

rectifier itself is a square block with 2 yellow wires i red and one black ground going into it. it is about 1-1/2 inches square with 1 bolt in the middle holding it down. it is in the grey electrical box in front of the motor. at least i think it is in front on 95 XP's. some have an inline fuse on the red wire, some don't. the rectifier is more likely the culprit than the stator, and a ton easier to replace. not to mention cheaper. your motor is a 717.
