Hi,
New to this forum so hello. Hope someone can help me. 2003 XP DI

First I recieved the 12Vlow message, charged battery and all good for a bit. Then a few rides later was running part rpms and was sluggish. Tested the battery and when reving it I noticed it jump up to like 18V. I replaced the voltage regulator. Took it out tonight and it revs out full and everything but does still not seem to be running 100% and hesitating a bit.
Brought it in, removed the plugs and one fell apart (ceramic cracked) and the other was cracked in the ceramic. And they were also really black. Usually pretty toasty brown.

SO I replaced the plugs with new ZFR 4F's.

Took it out for a ride today.
Starts no problem. It hesitates just off idle to 4000rpm and then when held open it seems to pull hard with no hesitation (seems alot better than before the new rectifier, top end that is). Didn't hold it open for more than a few seconds then when I let off it wants to die and bogs right down then will pick up again at lower RPM. Did this a couple times then I went in. No warnings or beeps occured at any time.

Removed the plugs and the MAG side plug was bent and touching the center electrode. Both plugs looked almost new but were pretty white on the ground electrode. Compression is 130psi both sides.

What could cause this damage to my plug? Detenation I assume? Limp mode? Was the rectifier not the cause?

I'd say, the rectifier was culprit for sparatic volt readings. Was compression done before/after noticing "tang" touching plug. Could be on to something, with carbon fall'n off and bend'n plug. Sounds lke ur confident on work'n on ski, so, clean raves, redo compression test, and if lake aint too far, take another gander...

Im just wondering if anyone has seen carbon bend a plug before or if its possible, thats all I can think of?

Once the valves were cleaned the ski runs great! I'm wondering if that was my only problem (not the rectifier), I'll check and let you know.
Just kinda curious about the bent plug.

If anything was coming off the rave valve it would just go out the exhaust. I have see engines break off rave valves and the pieces went out the exhaust, and never did any damage. Keep an eye out for any other problems, and check the plugs little more often, to prevent any serious problems. Did you do a compression test also to see whats going on inside the engine?
