XP DI Needs a Timing Light?

When replacing the MPEM, the manual states "In this operation, the ignition timing light and B.U.D.S. are used to synchronize the MPEM TDC reference with the engine crankshaft." You really have to use a timing light? I haven't had one in my hands since the 70's! I didn't know they made them anymore!

yes, your verifying the timing is lined up in spec, you adjust the timing on the computer but you need to verify with a timing light to see where the mark lines up, the replacement Mpem might not be adjusted right for your engine. every engine could be different because of machining tolerances
