I saw the Explorer post about this, and was wondering if anyone had done this with an XP. I have a 94 XP, and access to 95 720 motor. They look the same, and it will come with carbs, elec, and pipe. Is this truly a bolt in swap?
Thanks very much!

Headaches......

It can be done, but your going to have to pretty much start with a bare hull and pretty much build it from the ground up. I believe the motor mounts may line up. That would be the first measurement I'd take to be completely sure.

sorry snipe. this one is simple. put motor and exhaust from 720 in. use the 650 cdi and put the 650 stator onto the 720 motor. check timing and go. BUT...you are only gaining 10 HP. you will hardly feel the diff. unless the 650 is dead...in which case you are gaining 85 HP. i put a 580 in my 720 GTI. fell right in. then i blew the RV and re-did the 720 and put it back. all white 580 to 720 motors sit on same mount plate. use MOSTLY interchangable electrics. if changing carbs, you hafta swap all cables.
