So I purchased a basket case 2000 seadoo Challenger a few years back and completely rebuilt the motor. It has the 240 EFI and am considering installing a wake board tower on the boat. I have wakeboarded behind a 20ft cobalt with a tower on it and am looking for some real world advice. I know this is not a wake board boat and doesn't putout a clean wake but really just wondering if its worth it. I am def not a professional but just really looking to take out a couple friends and maybe teach them how to board. So basically looking for advice positive or negative of is it worth it. Also have two little ones that will be enjoying the boat soon. Loving the boat as I only paid 1000 for it so the cost of a tower is really null and void. If this has been discussed point me in the right direction. I did a search and didn't really find a good answer besides a few naysayers stating "buy a mastercraft if you want to wakeboard"

From an owner of C2K with aftermarket tower.
My 2 sons love it. It gives an easier pull up and easier ride. Gives higher jumps and more air. One of the tower's best features is the ability to store boards outside the boat without taking up seats or deck space. Bimini top is taken off the boat when the tower goes on. That sucks. It gets blazing hot out there. As for the wake, an inexpensive (ebay) ballast bag gives an extra 650 lbs in the boat for a better wake. I sometimes pull tandom- one on the tower, one on the pylon. Tower gives a big boost for riding an air chair. None of my crew has ever been behind a real wakeboard boat.

Well, we have used our tower for everything except wakeboarding up until this past week. How funny is that.

Since owning it, we have hung speakers, for hanging out on the back deck, we use it as a towel rack, life jacket rack. The towing mirrors for the tower are the best ever. We also tube from the tower. Many will advise against that, but hell, we have pulled four adult men and it shows no signs of spider cracks. (be careful as we have avoided doing it again)

The tower is great for us old guys/gals that just need something to hang onto when getting in and out. I hang gopro from it as well. It holds my landing net when catfishing etc.

Lately the kids have been double tubing. 1-2 kids per tube on two separate tubes from the tower. What a blast. Now the adults have joined in. I used to use a fat sac in the ski locker and it did help with a bigger wake for launching the tube and surfing. But it's a pain to fill/drain and it did make the boat cavitate under heavy load.

Surfing can be done, and it's all about body placement in this size boat. It's not ideal. And like I said above, we did borrow a wake board and give it a try. We love the tower. Be sure to get a tip-down model for storage.

Good luck!
