Worth replacing carbon seal on 2007 GTI?

So I recently took the pump out to replace the wear ring. The impeller had some small nicks so I sent it off to Impros to get it redone. Despite constant freshwater washes my shaft over time had a decent amount of rust. Taking off the pump and intake grate enabled me to remove nearly all of it. Part of the shaft I can't clean without removing it, which got me wondering about the carbon seal. I don't see any problems with mine but have heard various issue with Seadoo's randomly taking on water FAST. Through research I don't see a particular year or model group this effects so I'm wondering if my 2007 GTI SE is fine or if there is some upgraded OEM parts I can obtain and do while I'm in there.
