Working on Creating Registration Numbers

Hey everyone,

Just wanted everyone's opinion on this idea. Someone mentioned earlier making their registration number in the same font as the sea-doo font. I just bought my ski and need to get registration numbers put on it this year before I take it out. I plan on doing them myself instead of ordering.

Here is what I came up with, what does everyone think about this font? Should I go with something more blocky, and simplistic? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

The letters here are the required 3" tall. The spacing was just thrown together. I will measure the current spacing on registration on my ski and adjust these from there.

I think from a distance it will be tough to read and around here the water patrol would complain.

Yeah, that's what I was sort of afraid of. I only ride on the lake, and I have never seen any patrol boats out, but there are always patrol vehicles at the boat ramps. I figured I may end up having to go with something more traditional, more towards a block lettering.

I am guessing that that last letter is a "J"?

As long as you don't have one of the odd looking letters, you should be fine. If those are your actual numbers there, though, then you may have to pick another font.

Yep that's my numbers and it is a J. I have went more to a traditional block font. Let me see if I can get another picture uploaded from my laptop.

I know you want to do your own, just throwing this out to you though..

I did a TON of on-line research looking for something I was happy with. Went to my local dealer and they have a company that does them on a single sheet. So no spacing issues, they are legal for Ohio, (or whatever your state requirements are), and they look great.

I think I paid 40 bucks for the set, but now that they are on, I am VERY happy with them...

Any local graphics/print shop should be able to do them up how ever you want them. I called my local shop & they said to bring my reg #'s any any ideas on how I wanted them to look and they could do it up.

40 bucks is ridiculous. I can do them for around $10. Mine will be done on a single sheet also. All I have to do is slap them on and off I go.

I didn't say they were a bargain, but they were perfect and within the legal requirements of Ohio.

Due to how good they came out I would do it again. Bottom line is, I spent 22 grand on two ski's, I want them to look as good as they run...

"rexsteiner" on this forum does EXCELLENT work. Very affordable and professional.

I used him for a ski and my boat, and i will be contacting him soon again about my other ski (as soon as the stupid registration processes).

I asked him to create black and silver stickers similar to the "WaveRunner" shown on the side of my ski, and they came out great.

I concur, those do look great. I thought about doing fancy ones similar with a two tone design. Actually those looked fairly close, looks like a shiny, metallic backing with a black second layer. But I decided to keep it fairly basic. My ski is a 95 so I don't want to over do it.
