Winterization

Starting to think of that dreaded day where running the boat will become less enjoyable as the temp drops.

Never owned a Seadoo before so have been looking at what I am going to do to winterize. The oil change, fuel stabilizer, etc. All of the normal stuff I have no concerns on.

The 2 items I do are the IC and spraying XPS in the sparkplug holes.

I think for the IC, I am just going to pull it out and put it on the shelf in my basement considering how easy it is to remove.

For the XPS Lube....I have learned over the years of being Mechanically OCD, sometimes you do more harm than good with some preventative maint.

An example is that over the years when changing out to winter rims/tires on my vehicles. I would lather anti-sieze in the hub face. Over years of doing this, I was getting premature bearing failure on my Volvo's. I stopped being so liberal with it and have not had a bearing failure since.

I am concerned about spraying XPS down the sparkplug hole. Concerned as I normally change the oil to put it away. So that XPS will mix in with the oil that will sit in the boat all winter, then be run on it all summer.

Any thoughts on this? Normally I might put some oil in a spray bottle and fog.

You could get a can of fogging oil, it's what it's made for and contains anti corrosion additives. The intercooler you can just remove the two hoses and blow it out, but yes taking it inside is best.

I'm going to remove and store my IC as well. To keep the critters out, I'm going to strap plastic wrap around the hose openings with elastic bands.
