Will yellow bottom end work with white top end?

I can get a hold of a good used yellow bottom end for cheap that includes the oil pump rotary valve and crank and rods. What exactly is different if anything between the white and yellow engines? Will these parts interchange? I would like to mate the lower end (yellow) with the top end from my white 580 engine with a bad rod. Otherwise would I just be able to use the rods and crank from the yellow block and put them in my white block? Thanks ahead of time for the info.

Jeremy, don't quote me, but I think the main difference between these two engines were the electricals.

If you have these two motors, I would give it a try.

If someone knows more than I about them, jump on in. But from all I know, the charging system is all that's different.

Did some poking around and found that the cranks are different also.:cheers:

from what I read, the jugs aren't interchangeable, but the guts will work.
