Will 155hp 2006 Sportster pull a wakeboarder?

I have agreed at a price of $8500 for a 2006 Sea Doo Sportster with a 155hp motor. It is like new and still has warranty. I think (correct me if I am wrong) I am getting a great deal on this boat. He started at $9750. He bought a bigger Sportster so that's why he is selling.

Question I need to know.....does this have enough power to pull a 175lb wakeboarder out of the water. I have wakeboarded behind a jet ski and a bass boat will a 115hp so I am guessing this would be fine but I have to make sure before I dish out the cash. I don't wake board very often but would be nice to know I can.

Any opinion would be great! Thanks!

I think it will do fine wakeboarding providing the impeller and wear ring are in good working order. I also think you got a pretty good deal. When does the warranty expire and is it a BRP warranty?

yup... it will work. I pull a wake boarder with my 85hp sportster. It's not the best boat in the world for it... but it will do it.

Take it out on the water and test it out. I haven't dealt with a newer boat, but I am guessing you can do a compression check on the engine. Ask for any maintenance records. Any idea how many hours are on it?

He said there were less than 50 hours on it. Do these boats have an Hours meter like the SeaDoo skis do? He also has the service records. We are going on the lake when I pick it up. I didn't know if there were any seals or common leaks that would be visible. I hear people talk about wear rings but I would have no idea if these were bad.

Rfoster, I really like the flooring in yours. Is that hydro turf? About how much does it cost to do the floor like you did?

If the wear ring is bad, you will know it. It will rev up and not go anywhere. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the 4 tecs chimes in and is more helpful than me.

Yeah it is hydroturf. Highly recommend it . Great stuff!!! Here it is for ya:

Mention you are a member here for a discount, I think 15%.

My 97 Challenger 110 hp pops me right up, and I am hovering around 200 lbs.

Not much of a wake to play with, though.

I have a 06 sportster 155hp and it will pull a wakeboarder but like scooper said theres not much of a wake to play on.

As far as i know the only way to ck the hrs on it is when the dealer does the maintance since there isnt a hr meter. i just got mine mid last year so i'm still figuring everything out also.
