Why is there a bunch of fluid in my motor?

Only two possibilities I can think of.

The inner crank seals around the rotary valve let go...you would also likely see a significant drop in your oil tank. Crank needs replacing.

If you towed the boat without installing a clamp on the water line from the jet pump to the motor, you could have filled the engine with water since the engine needs to be running to get rid of the water once it enters the exhaust manifold. If it has been sitting with water in it, then you are in much the same spot. Pull the motor. Rebuild the crank at a minimum.
