Just got a 97 Speedster. Ive had several boats but none with bimini top. Would like some suggestions as to what top to get what size etc. We are going to do some fishing from the boat and its all the wife has asked for so seems reasonable. But i dont think i want it so high i can walk under it......or do i? Also seems to me mounting is going to be a challenge as the only real flat spot is right by the shifters. Dont want a pole in the way. Maybe a mount that goes on the side of the boat? If you have a nice top pictures of how you did it and basic measurements would really help.

Thanks

Meach

The OEM Bimini can be found on Ebay. Search - Bimini top for Sea Doo Speedster 14(15') Surelast Silver 0483. I think this was the original supplier for Bombardier.

I have a brand new Carver Bimini Top semi-custom for sale (similar to the one installed on this boat, this top is the same size, better quality)
Supreme Aqua Shield top with boot, stainless steel fittings, 48" aluminum brace kit w/ stainless steel fittings.
72" Long, 36" High, fits 79" to 84" wide.
$400 + shipping ($582 value)
Fits a 1996 Seadoo Speedster
I bought two tops and installed the one that shipped the quickest ( we were on a vacation dead line )
Need to sell now before I leave to work out on a cruise ship in April.

I also have a 1997 Speedster. I looked everywhere for a bimini top and settled on Axess Marine in Canada who I found on ebay. I just installed the top this weekend and it worked great. I left it open at speeds up to about 30mph and had no issues. Just needed to make sure the front straps were tight. Installed it by myself and it took about an hour.

Just got around to installing the Bimini top from Komo Covers. Like you, I was concerned about mounting the deck hinge near the controls so I ordered an appropriate width of Bimini top to allow for the bracket to attach to the outside of the hull, directly below the shifter controls. Rather than using the supplied screws I secured the bracket to the hull with 1/4 inch bolts and nylon insert nuts with large washers to help spread out the the load on the mounting points. Was able to access the bolt posts by temporarily removing the cup insert on one side and the shifter/throttle control box on the other side of the boat.
Also decided to purchase adjustable rear tension poles to replace the rear straps. (mounted these on the side of the hull) The adjustable poles allow me to collapse the Bimini to any angle without blocking access to the storage compartment. I will get around to mounting the front tension straps when the weather warms up a bit and I can work out in my driveway.
Good luck with your purchase and mounting.

I ended up getting a Top from Overtons. I read somewhere here in the forum about drilling pilot hole put in screws, remove screws and put superglue in hole on the threads made by the screw and put screws back in after glue dries. I think its supposed to make the threads really hard. Might be wrong on exact process anyone else know anything about this processes?

Banditgrrr, now that you have had that top for a few months, how is it holding up? Does it do well at higher speeds? Also how much did you pay for it? Did you have to pay anything extra for shipping since that guy is in Canada.

I've looked at those and he didn't have any height or length for the tops on his eBay ad. Did you get the 3 bow or 4 bow and how tall is it? If you have a picture that would help a lot.

I have a 97 seadoo speedster.

Here's a picture of it installed. It's been holding up great. I've left it open at full throttle in rough water and it hasn't moved a bit. Just make sure the front straps are tight. I would also take time to make sure you align the mounts for the rear short poles correctly. I wasn't paying close enough attention and I mounted one of them at a slight angle and it's a really tight fit. I paid $347.35 USD on ebay which included shipping. They're based in Canada so remember there's a currency conversion. I don't know the exact height but you can see in the picture.

I didn't realize you're also in Vegas. Not sure where you live but I'm on the northwest end of town near 95 and Durango. You're more than welcome to come by and take a look at it if you want to see it.

Thanks for the picture. I might just take you up on that sometime. I'm in southwest area near the silverton. How often do you make it out to the lake? Is yours the twin engine also?

Hi Guys, this is a nice post and I just found it because a customer send me here. I want to let you all knows that we can do generic top like overton and komo cover or any other out there and you can save money because of the dollar exchange. The original bimini top is more expensive because of the 4 bows and the sewing design that make it round instead of square so longer process in sewing and bending the bars. Any bimini top should not be taken over 28mph except the all stainless steel package that can go up to 35mph. Always think about the face wind! thank's everyone
