Where to mount through the hull transducer in GTX

I just picked up a 2016 GTX155 and I would like to mount a digital depth gauge in the boat. I see there is an inner framework under the engine area so has anyone found a good place to epoxy a transducer inside the hull?

Never mind, I found that Seadoo has a kit to install a digital guage and it will read through the instrument display (although it is pretty costly at $360). I was just trying to use a depthfinder I already had from when I owned my last 3 seater. I think I'll just get the OEM kit.

Any depth finder you have or buy, you can mount its transducer in the same location as the factory one would.

Personally, I would NEVER pay that outrageous price for the factory depth gauge when for $200, you can have SO much more information at your fingertips.

piggybacking on this, because I think hawk is right. From my POV for the same price point you can get a nice little marine gps with depth gauge, temp, lots of info at your fingertips.

I have a garmin 441s on my ski that sells for sub $300 (I never installed a transducer but its capable) I will admit Its a pretty nifty tool, came in handy on Saturday. I actually never priced out the transducers until 2 minutes ago, surprisingly cheap.

Yeah, I'm still not sure what I want to do. The OEM transducer has an advantage because it has provision to mount on the angle of the hull so it shoots straight down. If I just glue a transducer straigh in the hull it will be shooting off at an angle of about 35 degrees.

ditto's, i'd like to hear the answer to the original question myself so it would be best if this thread doesn't die until a solution (proper location) is presented for an inside mount.

I've looked and I cannot find an area inside with a single layer of hull that a transducer can be mounted that will point straight down. The kit from Seadoo has a bracket that is glued in that accomidates the angle then the transducer is placed in the bracket with a gel pad to make airless contact with the hull inside surface.

I ended up getting the Seadoo kit to put the digital readout in the stock display. Since I've been dealing with the dealership for over 30 years (motorcycles and pwc) I get a 10% discount on parts and accessories. That helped but it was still expensive considering the kit consists of a mount for the transducer that accomidates the angle of the hull inside, a transducer made to that same angle and a wire harness that goes into the oem fuse block. Turns out I'm glad I installed the kit. In order to plug the wires into the back of the fuse block, it has to be brought up to above the engine. Some connectors are quick connect and a few anchor points for the wire loom had to be removed. I also had to remove the main wire from the starter selonoid and thats where I found a lose connection. The nut holding the main wire to the selonoid was only finger tight. I haven't put the machine in the water to test yet but the depth function comes up on the display and I didn't see any smoke coming from any wires so I think it should all be good.

Good job. I also own a 2016 GTX 155 and I want to install one. do you have pictures where you installed the transducer in the hull
