My son and I were in our legally parked van in a plaza parking lot talking about his day at college while my dear wife and youngest daughter were in a Canadian Tire Store (for those in America, picture a cross between an autoparts store, tool store & Walmart) looking for some Christmas items.
I notice a vehicle beside me cutting diagonally through a row of parked cars. I had no worries about this scenario until I saw a boat appear in my side mirror getting closer. I hit my horn, but too late!
Bang!
Then, the driver of this vehicle hits his gas pedal to pull his trailer free of my parked van pulling my van forward almost a foot and ripping a hole in the left rear corner of my bumper cover. As I exit my vehicle, I notice this person is not going to stop and is about to hit the car in front of me - diagonally one to the left, so jumped out of my van and I banged rather urgently on their back right quater glass to STOP a second hit and a possible run.
Almost 2 decades accident free streak comes crashing to an end and now so does my vehicle's trade in value.
If you are towing something (anything) in a parking lot and you try to turn between rows of legally parked vehicles rather than turn at the end of row and you start your turn - for the love of boating, PLEASE USE A SPOTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or if your trailer hangs up on something (anything), don't push the gas pedal harder to un-hang it!!!!!!!!!
How difficult is it to understand those concepts?
The only not so bad thing is there was NO harm to his boat, since the boat trailer was slightly wider than his boat it was carrying, but not for his lack of trying.
Since a pic is worth a thousand words, here is where I stopped him inches short from a second hit but you get the picture.
